Significant places include Archibald Mill, Archibald, Edward T., House, Goodsell Observatory--Carleton College, Hospital, State School for the Feeble Minded and Administration Building--Girls' Dormitory, Minnesota School for the Deaf.

Many famous people are associated with these Rice County historic places including Bishop Henry Benjamin Whipple, Arthur R. Trego, William Wallace Payne, E.T. Archibald, J.S. Archibald and Alexander Faribault.
