Cumberland County North Carolina has 50 places on the National Register of Historic Places including 4 places of National significance and 11 places of Statewide significance. Significant places include Hangars 4 and 5, Pope Air Force Base, Market House, Market House Square District, North Carolina Arsenal Site and Cape Fear and Yadkin Valley Railway Passenger Depot.

Many famous people are associated with these Cumberland County historic places including Elliot Daingerfield, Robert Wall Christian, Richard Caswell, George Elliot, James McDaniel and Thomas C. Oakman.
