Significant places include Barnegat Lighthouse, Georgian Court, Hangar No. 1, Lakehurst Naval Air Station, Double Trouble Historic District and Island Heights Historic District.

Many famous people are associated with these Ocean County historic places including Joseph J. White, Elizabeth Sculthorp Force, Gen. William N. Grier, Capt. Amos Birdsall, William Torrey and Capt. George W. Giberson.
