Burke County North Carolina has 39 places on the National Register of Historic Places including 14 places of Statewide significance. Significant places include Bellevue, Broughton Hospital Historic District, Burke County Courthouse, Creekside and Hunting Creek Railroad Bridge.

Many famous people are associated with these Burke County historic places including Dr. John McKee Goodwin, Patrick Livingston Murphy, Alphonse Calhoun Avery, Joseph Bennett Riddle, Samuel Greenlee and Burgess S. Gaither.

Some of the country's most noteable architects helped create the Burke County places including Samuel Sloan, Agustus Bauer, Charles C.
