Significant places include Conkling, Roscoe, House, Floyd, Gen. William, House, Fort Stanwix National Monument, Hurd & Fitzgerald Building and Five Lock Combine and Locks 37 and 38, Black River Canal.

Many famous people are associated with these Oneida County historic places including Roscoe Conkling, Gen. William Floyd, Adam Gerard Mappa, Clark Dodge, Alfred Munson and John B. Jervis.

Some of the country's most noteable architects helped create the Oneida County places including Frederick H. Gouge, National Park Service, Philip Hooker, John H. Lothrop, Partous Root, Adam Gerard Mappa, J.B. Lathrop, Henry M. Congdon, Philip Shankenbery and Ambrose G. Howard.
