Significant places include Ball's Bluff Battlefield and National Cemetery, Harpers Ferry National Historical Park, Aldie Mill Historic District, Belmont and Benton.

Several famous people are associated with these Loudoun County historic places including John Brown, Charles R. Paxton, Charles Fenton Mercer and Colonel Joseph Lane.
